OCYC Rankings
Who's the best OCYC sailor? Everyone wants to know. Are you the best?
The OCYC has developed an innovative national ranking system that not only accounts for a sailors racing talents, but also for that sailors commitment to ocean conservation.
Your ranking is derived by scoring points for both these factors. Here is how it works...
Race
Participate in a club or US Sailing sanctioned event as an OCYC member boat and you will earn OCYC Points based on how you finish. For instance, if you enter a 10 boat race, register as an OCYC club member and finish third, then you will receive 8 OCYC Points--place first and you earn 10 points, place last and you earn 1 point, and so forth.
Conserve
By actively participating and promoting ocean conservation and awareness, you will earn Ocean Action Points. Everyone who joins the OCYC automatically earns 50 points and additional points can be earned by:
- Taking action at ocyc.oceana.org/act (10 pts per action)
- Promoting OCYC at a regatta (10 pts, but if you let us know beforehand your points can double)
- Sending us your own Better Boater Tips (10 pts per tip)
- Providing photos of yourself participating in an ocean clean-up or ocean conservation activity (5 pts per photo)
- Getting friends and family to join the OCYC (10 pts per person)
